SEPTEMBER 2023, The Oke Umurhohwo Foundation team, led by Edima-Sharon Bassey, visited Ighrwovie Primary School, Ekuigbo Primary School, and Ujode Primary School. Thanks to the incredible support of friends and donors, the team was able to provide over 2000 exercise books, school bags, reading guides, school uniforms, and various stationeries to the pupils of these schools.
Empowering Young Minds
Witnessing the smiles on the faces of the pupils as they received their new school supplies was a heartwarming experience for the team. The Foundation’s mission is to empower young minds and illuminate their path to success. The joy and eagerness displayed by the students as they received their items underscored the importance of this initiative.
“Education is the cornerstone of a brighter future,” said Mr. Oke Umurhohwo, the visionary behind the Foundation. “Through our Back to School Campaign, we are taking significant steps toward empowering these young minds to dream big and achieve their goals. The impact we make today will shape the leaders of tomorrow.”
A Collaborative Effort
The success of the campaign was made possible through a collaborative effort with compassionate individuals from across Nigeria. The generous response to the call for sponsorship enabled the Foundation to assemble an impressive array of school items, including 2000 exercise books, 50 school bags, 45 reading guides, 150 school uniforms, and approximately 700 stationeries.
From Despair to Delight
Upon arrival at the schools, the team was faced with the harsh reality of the conditions – dilapidated infrastructure, crumbling roofs, overgrown surroundings, and classrooms filled with broken desks. Despite these challenges, the success of the Back to School Campaign was a source of immense pride for the Oke Umurhohwo Foundation. The warm reception in the communities and schools touched their hearts deeply. Most importantly, they witnessed the joy and hope brought to the students’ faces.
“This campaign was a heartwarming experience for all of us,” said Edima-Sharon Bassey. “Witnessing the transformation from despair to delight in the eyes of these children is a testament to the power of collective effort. Our commitment to these communities extends beyond this campaign, and we look forward to further improving infrastructure and ensuring access to quality education.”
Enduring Commitment
Although this year’s edition of the Back to School Campaign has ended, the Oke Umurhohwo Foundation’s commitment to these communities endures. The Foundation will continue to stand by these pupils on their journey to success, working to break the cycle of poverty through access to education, good healthcare, and equal opportunities.
